August 3-9: New Teacher Academy. We are planning sessions specifically for the needs of special education certified staff new to the district. Date TBD: We will provide training for teachers that are new to the Language! Live curriculum. I will send more information via email when the training date is set. C&I Update Language! Live: Please send me the approximate number of students that will have Language! Live next year, and I will send you the information needed to order the licenses. Each student and teacher license must be renewed each year. Intensive Resource: I will be reaching out to Intensive Resource teachers about available curriculum materials for reading and writing. Transitions: We are still working on transition planning for next year. Elementary, middle and high school teams are continuing to collaborate regarding these plans. Teachers are continuing to promote student independence and implementing best and next practices. I am available to meet with teams as needed. Upcoming PL

May Visits: I will be meeting with each LIFT and Intensive teams prior to the end of the school year to review the school year and plan for next school year. Please thank your teachers for their year-long efforts on this! Transitions: Transitions are wrapping up and most teams are working together to plan for next year. I will work with individual administrators and teams in the fall to plan for any new students moving into the district with existing services similar to center-based programming. May 2017 Although we have no formal professional learning sessions scheduled in May, we have had a very busy March and April working on Tier 2 and Tier 3 strategies to prevent and support children with social emotional and behavior challenges. We’d like to say a big thank you to Jessica Lafferty, BV BCBA for training she provided specifically on data collection/graphing, Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans. We will be revisiting this training in the Fall. Changes for the 2017-18 school year. In addition to the Hilltop Learning Center where we have 15 early childhood classrooms, we will have satellite programs at Oak Hill Elementary, Mission Trail Elementary, Stanley Elementary and now at Wolf Springs Elementary. We are continuing to grow and will have 27 preschool classrooms in the district. |

Gifted Education
Upcoming PL
On the last district-wide professional learning opportunity, gifted education teachers will investigate special populations in gifted education. They will also learn more about the changing look and process of professional learning going forward. Finally, they will have opportunities to collaborate with their feeder colleagues regarding the students who are transitioning levels for next year. C&I Update Teachers continue to implement new ideas related to the skill strands of the gifted education curriculum: critical thinking, creative thinking, research, problem solving, leadership social/emotional coping, and technology. |
